“And he’ll huff and he’ll puff,’til he blows the house down. ”
Is your “door” strong enough to withstand the attacks of the evil one? It wasn’t until the “little pigs” made a brick house with a strong door that the wolf could no longer destroy.
The picture of the wolf in this blog is Satan and his deceivers. Just as the Lord is eagerly seeking those who love, obey and believe in Him, Satan is seeking those he can devour. Scripture says, in 1 Peter5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Both are seeking our souls.
But the Lord Jesus has a different goal than Satan. The Lord Jesus Christ wants you to be “His Bride,” His love. He’s already paid the price of my sins and yours. His love is eternal…now and forever. Satan wants your destruction, death…your witness for Jesus destroyed.
I’ve noticed in myself that when I’m not consciously in communion with the Lord, Satan knocks on the flesh’s door and urges me to satisfy it. Those grey areas that are not sin in themselves…until they become out of balance. That “out of balance” action can cause destruction: destruction of my soul, my body and my fellowship with God. Do you want to be equipped with a strong “brick house” and secure door?
In the scripture mentioned above, Satan is called a lion. Scripture also calls Jesus Christ the Lion of Judah. The picture of the king of the jungle in these examples shows the equal diligence of which our personhood is being sought. But the King, the Lion of Judah, has given His life for me…for us. The lion of “the pit” wants to destroy my life.
We have a wonderful opportunity today to claim the finished work of Jesus to our sins. He paid the price. His precious blood cleanses from all sin. What will you do with this precious gift? He is knocking on the door of your heart. Do you hear Him calling your name? Dear one, place your trust in Him today. His Holy Spirit will come to reside with you and give you the power to walk with Him, the power to be all He wants you be, the power to overcome evil. He promises, “…he who believes on Me will never perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16b.
The wolf is at the door. The pressure is constant. To whom will you give kingship…the devouring king or the King of Heaven? It has to be one or the other. It cannot be both. Choose today whom you will serve.
