Dependability: the character of being steady, reliable, trustworthy
Most employers are desiring dependable employees. Relationships are crying for dependable nurturing. Hearts are hurting because they are not seeing success and dependability in themselves, reducing their own self-conceived worth. This ?slippery slope? of never living up to expectation?of ourselves or others?can leave us open to Satan?s ?messing with our minds,? putting his lies there for us to believe instead of God?s truth and promises. In these cases, leaning on our dependability becomes like sifting sand.
But there is One who is ultimately dependable?the Rock that can never be moved. His character contains the ultimate in dependability. It is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). He wants us to rest on Him, believe in Him, cast our cares on Him, and let Him give us His peace that passes understanding . For He loves us and has plans for us.
Proverbs 3:5 says,
?Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear [def: worshipful awe] the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.?
Do you see what the Word of God says and believe? Trust Him. Acknowledge that He is more than able. He will direct your path. Do not be wise in yourself, because human beings are very flawed. He will be your ?dependability partner.? And guess what?! It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones. Because of the peace He gives, there is a reduction of stress?stress that causes that nasty hormone, cortisol, to be produced and cause harm to the body. As we focus on the Lord, He gives us His peace.
Mark 4:39: says,
?Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ?Peace, be still!? And the wind ceased; there was a great calm. ?
Isaiah 26: 3 says,
?You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You (God).?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?s finished work on the cross as the payment for your sins. The Word of God is true and reliable. God?s dependability is impeccable. He will never disappoint. He will supply all your needs. Lean on Him for every trial. He loves you more than you can ask or think and He wants to endow you with ?all His riches in glory by Christ Jesus? (Philippians 4:19).
